Standing Firm in Faith: Evangelizing Amid Challenges
We had a challenging outreach last Saturday at the ballpark with 13 evangelists including 5 new ones (yay!). Three teams of 2-3 people were sent out from the display table. 1st timer Daniel had a memorable encounter ministering to a couple who really needed a touch of God. As we gave out sacramentals (rosaries, holy medals, etc.), praying with many people, an “evangelism” group across the street, blared out anti-Catholic vitriol and a condemning message to the lost. Fr Felix warned of this cult and in the future we will not attempt to dialogue with this group, which is not open to discuss the truth. Pray for their souls, as we do not wrestle against flesh and blood.
Many people open to encounter were Catholic and non-Catholic Christians who thanked us for stepping out with the Gospel. One special interaction was with a man and his friend who had “time to kill” after attending mass, awaiting dinner reservations. Andrea found out the man’s daughter (a Focus missionary) was in Germany being treated for serious Lyme’s disease. We prayed for her miraculous healing and the couple was very touched, noting that God had set up our encounter. He was given a SPSE brochure and was asked to email Dn Alex on the daughter’s progress and for prayers.
Finally, a board member of the Annunciation Rosary Center Apostolate at The Church of the Annunciation invited SPSE to join them every 3rd Saturday of the month (next one 7/19) for the 8a mass. This is followed by a Rosary Procession around the periphery of Discovery Green, praying the rosary while processing in a prayerful and benevolent manner, giving out free rosaries and pamphlets. They finish with a light breakfast at Annunciation. Our Lord uses a unified Church to destroy the works of the evil one.
