Learn Latin

Learn the Language of the Church

For centuries, Latin has been the heartbeat of Catholic worship. Many who attend our parish feel drawn to go deeper—to understand, read, and even speak this timeless language.

Who Can Join

Everyone is welcome!

Whether you’re brand new or you’ve dabbled before, this class is designed to meet you where you are.

If you’ve ever wished you could follow along in the Mass or unlock the writings of the Church, this is for you.

How We Learn

We use Lingua Latina per se Illustrata by Hans Ørberg, a book built on the Natural Method.

Instead of memorizing grammar, you’ll start reading and speaking Latin from day one.

It begins simply, then grows naturally.

When and Where We Meet

Every Thursday evening, 7:30–9 pm

Our parish is spread out across Houston, so classes take place on Zoom. No commute, no hassle—just log in and learn from home.

Why It Matters

Learning Latin isn’t about studying a “dead language.” It’s about living the faith more fully—connecting to tradition, understanding the Mass more deeply, and sharing in the heritage of the universal Church.

For over 27 years, Michael Martin has managed the website Thesaurus Precum Latinarum, a resource dedicated to traditional Latin prayers. Teaching Latin at Annunciation felt like a natural extension of that work.
