FEAST OF BLESSED KARL OF AUSTRIA

Wednesday, October 21 at 7 PM, followed by a reception at the Foley House after Mass

Last December, Annunciation blessed and dedicated a shrine to Blessed Karl of Austria, with the only first-class relic of Blessed Karl in Houston. This year, for the first time, we celebrate his feast day at the shrine.

Karl was the last emperor of Austria-Hungary. He took the throne in 1916, during World War I, and spent his reign working for peace. He was a devoted husband and father, and he began and ended all things in prayer. On the eve of their wedding, he told Empress Zita, “Now we must help each other get to Heaven.” His feast day, October 21, is the anniversary of that wedding.

Come honor Blessed Karl, ask for his intercession for our families, and pray for his canonization.

Blessed Karl of Austria, pray for us.
