Rosaries, Prayers, and Miracles

Annunciation Church/Convention Center outreach (6/21) had 6 evangelists, who first started at Crawford & Capital St but then moved in front of Hampton Inn (corner Crawford & Rusk) due to heavier foot traffic. We immediately had interactions as many hotel residents walked to/from the Convention Center. We also sent out a mobile team who talked with people on the street and at Discovery Green (where the team also did 'reconnaissance" for the future).

The table crew passed out dozens of sacramentals to the pedestrians and talked with many people with most agreeing to personal prayer. Notable interactions included praying with the hotel parking valet supervisor, a large family, and a young lady who was intrigued by the table items as she walked by. As we explained the rosary and holy metals (especially St Teresa of Calcutta & her life) the young lady began to tear up, moved by the Holy Spirit. Using the Jesus-at-the Door tract, the Gospel message was shared and the woman agreed to "give Jesus a chance" in her life, through our prayer. We explained the Church was opened for her, as she was given Mass information. We were honored to take part in a very touching, precious encounter which changed the course of the lady's life.

The mobile team (Jose and Amy) interacted with many people as the streets and Discovery Green were crowded. Giving away rosaries, crucifixes and medals they encountered an ethnically diverse crowd including a Black Israelite (cult) "evangelist", who explained his belief system. Jose responded with the true Gospel message. The team also (cordially) dialogued with a woman who recently relocated from India and was of another religion. They explained the Catholic faith and together they shared the need to pray for world peace. A seed was planted. They also met a very depressed man who refused to receive a sacramental, but agreed to prayer which brought a HUGE smile to his face. It was very rewarding for both him and the evangelists.

Pasadena Flea Market (6/21) outreach had four evangelists who ministered to many people. Foot traffic has improved from the two weeks previously. An impactful encounter happened with a young man, a fallen-away Catholic, who was hostile to our faith, even to the point where there was no common ground for discussion and our evangelists felt any further discussion was a waste of time. But he shared he had a throat problem from an industrial accident, which a previous surgery failed to remedy, and he had planned a follow-up procedure. Janet offered a prayer of healing to him which he agreed to accept. Afterwards he felt something happening in his body and he believed he was healed! Then he called Janet, who just a few minutes he vehemently argued with, an angel!! Simply put, the SPSE team demonstrated WWJD (What Would Jesus Do).
