Pumpkin Fest at Discovery Green

Here is a recap of our SPSE ministry outing on Halloween. Plus the schedule of upcoming events for November 2026!

On Saturday we walked in hope, love and courage to share our Catholic faith at Discovery Green's Pumpkin Festival on the evening of Halloween. We prayed that the conversations we have with each person leads to helping them build a closer relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Out we went together, a group of ten excited and elated evangelists. And wow Holy Spirit fireworks were set off throughout the night! Our group of ten encountered well over a hundred people, including the cutest baby chicken!

We spent our ministry time engaging the passersby by talking to them about our free sacramentals (crucifixes, rosaries, holy medals/cards) plus reviewing the tracts and other Catholic printed materials with them.

Sharing our love for Jesus, led to us praying and ministering to many with the love of Jesus. It really is amazing to see the different people in families, friend groups, couples and singles too, who stop to engage with us because a rosary or holy card caught their eye.

“Why are you here?” Is a greeting we received this night from friends who initially were hesitant to engage us.

One particular moment, we had a father insist on leaving cash, but we said no cash, no money is accepted here. He asked us “what’s really behind the free rosaries and medals?” His question was a perfect way to talk about how much Jesus loves him. It’s simply that simple. Jesus loves you brother. That’s the reason why we are here on this night.

We even had a few others circle around us a several times, before finally stopping to engage in conversation with us. Our evangelists were alert and noticed these behaviors, which gave us opportunities to take the initiative and begin a dialogue. It was during one of these conversations with a young couple who shared to our evangelist “you shared something in the prayer with me that really touched my heart and I wasn’t expecting that.” To which our evangelist boldly replied, “well that’s because Jesus is alive and He is meeting us right where we are!”

We also sent out of teams of 2 to 3 evangelists to walk throughout the park passing out sacramentals and pamphlets with the mass information from Church of the Annunciation and the Catholic Charismatic Center.

The park has opened up many opportunities to minister and share what Jesus has done in our lives. As we grow in our personal relationship with our Lord, we recognize His love is overflowing within us and we delight in others knowing his grace. The love, the joy and the peace only He can bring.

In prayer we petition that our humble efforts may bring the grace of Jesus to the each person we encountered. And may the encounter be an opening for each individual to the love of Christ. We continue to lift up prayers for our evangelists and for all the souls we will encounter. We open our hearts to Jesus by saying Yes, being willing and ready. We offer it all up for Jesus! Then He takes care of everything!

As we wrapped up the night, we all rejoiced in bringing the Good News on this dark night.

Praise the Lord!

The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life. Whom shall I dread?

Psalm 27:1

We invite you to join us in our upcoming events. God bless you!
